Wisdom Kaye: TikTok’s “King of Fashion” 

The Rise of Wisdom Kaye 

TikTok is usually a very divisive platform where any topic seems to spark arguments and disagreements. The idea of a single, universally accepted ruler of any corner of the App felt impossible until Wisdom Kaye stepped onto the scene. Wisdom Kaye is a 24 year old Nigerian-American who rose to fame as a TikTok fashion creator in the time of the Covid pandemic and has branched into all elements of fashion ever since as a designer, stylist and model. He is currently approaching 13.9 million followers on TikTok and is connected with many major fashion brands as well as being signed to IMG Models. He has combined his creative curation of outfits with an artistic vision through editing and cinematography to create an unmatched quality in his videos that many say seems too professional for a platform like TikTok. 

Reputation as the Exception 

Wisdom Kaye has created many popular series of videos in his rise to fame on TikTok, including series where he created high fashion outfits based on TV characters or styled outfits based on different times in human history. One of his most recent series, titled “DON’T WEAR THESE” has garnered him a new reputation. The premise of the series is to style fashion pieces or combinations that other people have claimed to be impossible to style. One example is when he stitched (started his video with a 5 second clip of another creator’s video) someone’s claim that red and yellow could not look good together with multiple outfits that made red and yellow seem like a classic pairing. Throughout this series of proving people wrong, people have started calling Wisdom an exception to any rule of fashion and started commenting “We didn’t mean you!” under his videos. His ability to make anything look fashionable is one of the main contributors to being dubbed as TikTok’s “King of Fashion” 

Outgrowing the App 

It didn’t take long for the interest in Wisdom Kaye to outgrow TikTok. Wisdom started TikTok in 2020 and was signed to IMG Models in 2021. According to his bio on the IMG Models website he has become “a favorite of top luxury brands such as Prada, Dior, Valentino, Fendi, Ralph Lauren, and Tiffany”. It didn’t take long for brands to start sending Wisdom pieces straight off the runway for him to review and style on his TikTok page. More recently, Wisdom got to flex his passion as a stylist as he got to style his own runway show for Kid Super in Paris Fashion Week in 2024. 

Voice of the New Generation 

Wisdom is now established as the bridge between social media fashion and high fashion where he uses his platform to not only share his creative vision but to comment on and challenge issues in the fashion space such as sustainability and restrictive stereotypes such as gendered clothing expectations. He inspires a new generation to see style as canvas for bold self expression.
